From the outset, French Lessons performed very few songs by other artists. The initial exception to this was Last Train, a song by The Movies. It stayed in the stage show, mainly as the first set opener, for most of the band’s career.

There were other songs covered. Most were just for one night—played during a special Christmas gig at the Dale Inn, Seacombe. The songs were all suggestions by band members, friends, family, road crew and possibly hangers-on. I suggested Turning Japanese by The Vapours—but it never happened.

Recordings of the band covering Last Train and the Isley Brothers’ song Harvest for the World are on the MP3s page.
